Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC Available On June 26th, Will The Story Finally Be Over?

June 22, 2012

The Extended Cut DLC for Mass Effect 3 will be released on June 26th, much to the delight of players who thought the ending as it stood was short on closure.

There have already been petitions made by fans to change the ending of Mass Effect 3, but people still hoping for a complete rewrite will be disappointed. As BioWare have previously stated, the ending is an expansion – at no extra cost – and does not replace the ending, but builds upon the one that the player was left with at the close of the trilogy.

Above is an interview that goes into more detail about the Extended Cut DLC. Casey Hudson, Executive Producer, said: “It’s not just a matter of reloading your save and seeing what the extended cut does, with one save, but playing through, going back, making different choices and trying entire different playthroughs as it’s the only way you’re going to be able to see and explore the content we’ve built.”

A decent sendoff for some of the characters we’ve grown to love is enough for me. That’s part of what the ME franchise is founded on, after all. Character development. Let’s hope this goes well.
