Quantic Dream to reveal projects at E3?

May 31, 2012

Quantic Dream, the developer behind the paranormal thriller ‘Fahrenheit’ back on the Playstation 2 and the developer behind the critically acclaimed psychological drama thriller ‘Heavy Rain’, is rumoured to appear at this year’s Sony PlayStation E3 Press Conference with at least one major title – if not two. This is according to, which states that a trusted source near the founder of Quantic Dream, David Cage, has revealed a collaboration between the studio and Sony.

This is just one more exciting tidbit from Quantic Dream, who is more than usually very tight-lipped until they have something to show us.

So it’s no surprise after releasing a seven minute development short called ‘Kara’, which showed off their only one-year old engine (according to David Cage himself in this interview with Grey Miller for IGN), that we are all expecting big things from Quantic Dreams, who pushes the interactive gaming media further with each new title.

In this video you see Kara as a true depiction of how far Quantic Dream can push your emotions and make you face difficult realities.

I’m terribly excited about the possibility that Quantic Dream will be showing off a new IP at E3, as Heavy Rain is by far one of the most memorable experiences so far in the PlayStation 3 era.  Heavy Rain pushed linear story-telling and choice further than anything before and introduced a tangible consequence of failure. At any point in the story any one of your four characters can be killed, leaving you on the edge of your seat all the time as you track down the Origami Killer. Heavy Rain left many gamers with unique experiences and parts of the story have become infamous among the gaming community.

Warning: The Video below is quite graphic.

Heavy Rain was nowhere near perfect; it suffered from low grade textures, some muddy accents and some quite unrefined facial motion capture. But just look at the Kara short! Imagine the pulse-racing story and character depth that this presumably one-year-old game engine could do on the PlayStation 3, or dare I say it, the next generation of PlayStation Consoles.
